Tarang: Orientation for Heads of Preschools.
Sethu is working on Inclusive Education through a project named 'Tarang', an outreach service for preschools. On 19th August Sethu conducted an Orientation Meeting for Heads of preschools all across Goa. The resource persons for the training were Dr. Nandita de Souza, Mrs Giselle Lobo and Ms Rani Venatt. There were 27 participants from 23 schools.
The purpose of this meeting was to facilitate a discussion with the Heads on how to bring about a change in the system of education to make it more welcoming to children with diverse learning needs. It was all about transforming schools to create a positive learning environment for everyone. The teacher facilitates learning by encouraging, guiding and observing her students to understand their strengths, as well as challenges. The teacher’s role is to provide students with ongoing opportunities to learn and engage in classroom activities which are developed keeping in mind the multiple intelligences that children possess.
Tarang will be offering 2 innovative programs to further the cause of inclusive education. An intensive workshop for Heads focusing on Educational Leadership for inclusion will take place in October 2017. In addition, a certificate course in Inclusive Education over 8 months will be held for the teachers of these schools. Registrations are open!
