Class Act 2010

A Workshop For Teachers to Promote Learning & Behavior in the Classroom

19th to 22nd April 2010

Teaching young children is not an easy job! In today’s world where stress is a daily challenge, school classrooms are crowded, curricula are vast and teachers are overworked, it is often difficult to create a classroom where learning occurs in an atmosphere of enjoyment and participation. Welcome to CLASS ACT - the program organized by Sethu Centre, that gives teachers the ‘know how’ they need to deal with behavior and learning difficulties in the classroom. This workshop will cover:

LEARNING IN SCHOOL
How children learn and what are the learning difficulties they face.

TEACHING ENGLISH COMPREHENSION, READING AND SPELLING
Methods to promote English language and literacy skills

UNIVERSAL ACTIVE MATHEMATICS
Teaching Maths through doing and discovering

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT
Discipline in the classroom
Handling the child who does not sit and concentrate

The resource persons are Dr. Nandita de Souza (Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrician), Dr. Priti Bakre (Child Psychiatrist) and Anjali Nunes (Speech & Language Therapist). The program is an interactive process, including group discussions, lectures and practical exercises. The workshop will be held at the Audio-visual Hall of Don Bosco School, Panaji. The timings are from 9:00 – 5:00 pm daily. The registration fees are Rs.1000/- per person and includes the cost of lunch, tea and training materials.

If you would like to register, please write to us at reachus@sethu.in or come to the Sethu Centre, Top Floor, Aleluia Menezes Bldg #3, Altinho, Panaji (Ph: 6513749) to register and pay the fees. Last date for registrations is 6th April 2010.
