A Workshop for Parents of Children with Autism

Autism is a developmental condition that affects a child's ability to communicate and interact with others. There is a marked increase in the number of children being diagnosed with autism. Unfortunately, trained therapists are not easily available, to provide the teaching which is so important in bringing about improvement in the child's condition. Therefore the burden of teaching falls on the parents, who often feel unsure and overwhelmed with this responsibility.

Aarambh, is a training program specifically designed for parents whose children have been recently diagnosed with autism, to give them the knowledge and skills required to teach their children. This 4-session course covers:
a. Understanding Autism.
b. Using Structure
c. Handling Challenging Behaviours
d. Playing with your Child
e. Moving from Play to Communication

Equipped with skills to manage challenging behaviors & develop effective communication, parents can thus prepare their children to become more socially competent. We believe that once a child is able to stay seated & communicate, learning is much faster.

Aarambh will be held over 4 sessions, conducted once per week on Saturdays, for 4 weeks from 2.00 to 5:00 pm. The program will be held at the Sethu Centre, Altinho. Since only 10 families can be accommodated per course early registration is strongly recommended.

Parents who wish to attend the program should pay the registration fees of Rs.100/- per couple as soon as possible, at Sethu Centre.
