Class Act 2009

Teaching young children is not an easy job! In today’s world where stress is a daily challenge, school classrooms are crowded, curricula are vast and teachers are overworked, it is often difficult to create a classroom where learning occurs in an atmosphere of enjoyment and participation.

Sethu conducted Class Act, a 4-day workshop for primary school teachers to promote learning and behavior in the classroom from 27th to 30th April 2009. Over 60 teachers from all over Goa participated with great enthusiasm, despite the fact that it was their vacation time. The topics addressed were how children learn to read English, learning difficulties, methods to promote reading, Maths and English competencies and discipline in the classroom. The program was an interactive process, including group discussions, lectures and hands on exercises. Most of the teachers who attended the workshop opined that Class Act gave them new information and practical strategies needed to deal with behavior and learning difficulties in the classroom.
